GOP U.S. Senate hopeful Herschel Walker on Wednesday reaffirmed his support for a national abortion ban, expressing that he would vote for the policy if elected in November and if Republicans get back regulate of the higher chamber.
In a statement described by The Atlanta Journal-Structure, Walker—the Heisman Trophy-winning former NFL superstar—called himself “a proud professional-life Christian” who “will often stand up for our unborn little ones.”
Responding to Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) introduction Tuesday of a nationwide 15-week abortion ban, Walker stated that “I consider the situation should really be resolved at the condition stage, but I would assistance this coverage.”
It was not the 1st time Walker—who does not back again exceptions in conditions of rape, incest, or even to help save the expecting person’s life—voiced aid for a nationwide abortion ban. Reacting to Graham’s proposal, Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates tweeted Tuesday: “The Senate GOP introduced a Nationwide abortion ban nowadays. Having an anti-abortion extremist like Herschel Walker in the Senate will carry the GOP methods closer in the direction of their goal. This November, bodily autonomy is on the ballot.
